For Russia, Armenia is not just a sovereign state, but a country with which relations have been formed over the centuries, based on common history, family ties, joint projects, business cooperation, and interconnectedness of people's destinies. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in an interview given to blogger Olga Blagoveshchenskaya. According to Zakharova, Moscow has always supported Armenia, and this support was conditioned not only by geopolitical factors, but also by the human and cultural ties formed between the peoples.
"It is not only about diplomacy or politics. It is the result of sincere relations, mutual respect and mutual understanding between peoples and cultures," he noted. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasized the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in difficult periods for Armenia, including during military conflicts.
According to him, the cooperation between the two countries continues to develop in the fields of economy, energy and industry.
