More than 500 babies were named after Holland during the World Cup in Peru

During the 2026 World Cup, more than 500 newborns born in Peru have been named after Norwegian football team striker Erling Holland. This was reported by AFP.

468 babies were named Holland, and another 91 were named Erling Haaland. Most of the babies with these names were registered after the start of the World Cup, and their number increased especially after the Norwegian team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

25-year-old Holland plays for "Manchester City". The 2026 World Cup is its first such tournament. He scored seven goals in four games and is in third place in the list of the best scorers in the history of World Cups.
