CBS News reported that the Pentagon released a new batch of documents and files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP).
The new collection includes 40 items: 14 documents, 19 video files, four audio files and three photographs. One of the files obtained from the Department of Energy describes an incident in 2015 in which two officers spotted an unidentified object in the sky above the Pantex nuclear weapons facility in Texas.
Witnesses began to follow it and noticed that it was silent. Officers also reported that they were unable to identify the object's propulsion system. They observed it for several minutes, then the mysterious object continued to move to the north.
Most of the published materials are dated 2010 or later. One image captured by infrared cameras shows a 12- to 15-foot-tall (more than 3.6 meters) dark red "deformed balloon" seen by a US Navy officer over the Atlantic Ocean in 2020.
In another 2019 report, a US pilot reported witnessing an object unlike any he had seen during his 28 years of service in the Air Force and Navy.
He described a rectangular object that passed under a plane flown by a military pilot at high speed.
