Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan wrote on his Facebook page:
"I feel bad that along with the problem of political prisoners increasing day by day in Armenia, the issue of removing me from the Mother University has appeared on the public discussion agenda.
For three days now, this issue has been widely discussed, many public figures publicly criticize and evaluate this decision. Among them are former students, people who know me, people who don't know me, figures from Armenia and the Diaspora, even foreigners.
I thank you all. I also thank the journalists covering the topic. I also notice opinions criticizing me.
I also respect the approach of those people, although they are often unfair and based on false "facts". For example, I noticed a post by a "rights activist" who justified the discriminatory treatment towards me with the "boomerang law".
I consider this approach not only unfair, but also groundless, because neither in my teaching activity nor in my leadership position, I have never allowed discrimination.
For example, I have never fired or underestimated people with different political views.
Nor have I ever used my audience for propaganda purposes.
If any of my thousands of former students or dozens of former employees have "testimony" to the contrary, let them write here.
