Greece has asked that its interests be taken into account when selling F-35s to Turkey

Turkey is threatening war with Greece if Athens exercises its legal right to expand its territorial waters by 6-12 nautical miles. Therefore, the sale of F-35 fighters to Ankara should be decided taking into account the interests of all NATO members, including Greece.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced this within the framework of the NATO summit in Ankara. Asked by reporters whether the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean will be disturbed if US President Donald Trump allows Turkey to buy F-35 fighter jets, Mitsotakis said that he "will not comment on yesterday's statements by President Trump and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan." "I can only say that the alliance should be based on the fundamental principle of neighborly relations.

At a time when my country is facing a casus belli (Latin for "pretext to declare war") by Turkey, if we use our legal right to expand our territorial waters, I clearly believe that the interests of all NATO members must be taken into account," the Greek Prime Minister added.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that "these unresolved issues can be resolved in the spirit of neighborly relations and cooperation". Mitsotakis also mentioned that he always enjoys visiting Ankara.
