Up to 68 million barrels of Iranian oil remain on tankers at sea, while Iran actively seeks buyers during the period of relief from US sanctions, Bloomberg reports.
On June 22, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a general license authorizing activities related to the production, sale, supply, and handling of Iranian oil and petroleum products until August 21.
"The total volume of Iranian oil at sea, both in transit and at rest, ranges from 58 to 68 million barrels," the agency writes, referring to the data of Vortexa analytical company and its own calculations. The agency notes that Iran is trying to find buyers for its oil before the 60-day deadline given by Washington expires.
