Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, the spokesman of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the parties to the US-Iran indirect negotiations have not yet made progress in unfreezing Iranian assets of 6 billion dollars.
"The transfer of funds depends on the agreement of the parties and the progress of the negotiations, which, of course, has not happened yet," he said during the briefing.
The diplomat reminded that the disputed funds were supposed to be transferred according to the 2023 Iran-US agreement for humanitarian purposes. "Qatar does not own these funds, it just acts as a financial intermediary for their management," al-Ansari explained.
