Russia is closing the Romanian consulate in St. Petersburg, declaring the institution's acting consul general, Laurentiu Constantiniu, a person undesirable. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia informed about this to the Ambassador of Romania to Russia, Christian Istrata.
The Russian side considers it a response to Bucharest. Romanian President Nikushor Dan closed the Russian Consulate General in Constanta and declared the consul persona non grata after a Russian drone crashed into a high-rise building in the eastern Romanian city of Galatsi at the end of May.
On the night of May 29, a drone fell on the roof of a residential building in Galatsi, Romania, injuring a 14-year-old boy and a 53-year-old woman. A fire broke out in an apartment on the 10th floor, 70 people were evacuated from the building.
