Today, the CC will start examining the applications of 7 political forces disputing the results of the elections. The cases were combined in one proceeding, and they will be examined at the same session of the court. "Strong Armenia" and "Armenia" alliance, "Wings of Unity", DOK, PAP, parties of Arman Babajanyan and Hayk Marutyan applied. The session will start at 11:00. The reporter is judge Edgar Shatiryan, the examination will proceed through oral procedure.
According to the Law on the Constitutional Court, the court must either leave the decision of the CEC on the election results unchanged, or make 3 possible decisions by recognizing it as invalid: first: "recognize the results of the elections as invalid", second: "recognize as invalid and determine the order of distribution of mandates", and third: "designate the second round of elections".
2 judges from the 9-member CC, Vladimir Vardanyan, a former Communist Party member, and Artak Zeynalyan, a former member of Aram Zavenich's party, will not participate in the discussions. 5 votes in favor are needed to accept the decision of the CC, and for this very reason, the CC did not approve the appeal of the "Armenia" alliance regarding Seda Safaryan. The current SC is a nikolahpatak from head to toe, and now it is clear why Nikol Pashinyan was making titanic efforts to "capture" the SC.
Only one person in this composition can be considered a competent lawyer - Yervand Khundkaryan, whom Pashinyan did not appoint. They probably had doubts that they would not have 5 votes, and to insure themselves, they kept Safaryan, even though he participated in the previous elections on the list of Arman Babajanyan's party, and Babajanyan is one of the plaintiffs, so his impartiality is in doubt.
