The new US presidential election provides Washington with an opportunity to correct past mistakes regarding Iran, as well as reconsider old incorrect approaches. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Esmail Bagai.
“Responsibility for choosing the US President lies with the people. Now the people have already made their choice. These elections are an opportunity to review and rethink the erroneous approaches used in the past,” Bagai said in an interview with the agencyIRNA. According to him, Tehran remembers the bitter experience of the past in interaction with previous US administrations. He clarified that for Iran, an important indicator and criterion for assessing the effectiveness of the new government in Washington will be specific actions on its part.
Voting in the US elections ended on the morning of November 6, Moscow time. The official results have not yet been summed up, but, according to American media, Trump has already won about 300 electoral votes with the required 270. He himself has already declared himself the 47th president of the United States. The ruling Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris admitted defeat and named the Republican the president-elect.
