Armen Nikoghosyan, vice-president and member of the executive committee of the Football Federation of Armenia, made an official statement, which stated:
"Dear football community,
At the FFA meeting held at the end of last year, I announced that I will not run for the 2026 executive committee elections and will end my activities as the vice president of the FFA. During this time, however, events occurred that made some adjustments to my decision.
First, the national futsal team of Armenia participated in the group stage of the European Championship, which was an unprecedented result for Armenian sports. The pride that our country is finally in the same line with the European leaders, as well as the excitement and emotions I experienced in those days, I wish to all sports fans.
Then an even more important and incredible event happened. our country jointly with Georgia received the right to organize the second largest tournament in the world, the 2029 World U-20 Final Championship. By and large, I never dreamed that during my term of office I would have direct participation in such events, which seemed unattainable in the recent past. But now this is a reality, we have to go after new goals, and I will participate in the preparations for the organization of this tournament. Therefore, I announce my resignation from the position of the FFA vice-president and the member of the executive committee.
I thank my colleagues for their joint work. While recording that there have been both successes and failures, I apologize to everyone. In many cases, I have not reconciled with the decisions made, but I have always been guided by the interest of Armenian football, considering the exclusion of patronage and corruption as a priority. I can state that the current leadership of the FFA has managed to completely eradicate these phenomena, and this is already an irreversible reality. I am sure that in the near future we will also see the rise of the national team, for which all the necessary conditions have been created.
I wish our country strong and unshakable peace, and new victories for Armenian sports and football.
