Although the final results of the June 7 elections have not yet been concluded, it is highly likely that the PAP will enter the parliament, depriving the "City Pact" of 3/5 of the mandates, i.e. the constitutional majority, which gives the opposition the opportunity to participate in the elections of the heads of the constitutional bodies, and the CP will, in fact, remind the government of a "lame duck".
But even the low level of legitimacy and the public's total lack of confidence in the results of the elections do not prevent the authorities from waging hot battles for key positions. The future ruling faction has not yet been formed, however, according to our sources, barricades have already been formed and they are fighting each other over who should occupy what position. Naturally, the hottest battles are fought for the position of the Speaker of the National Assembly: every group is fighting for their representative to occupy that position. A few days ago we wrote that a group of CP members tend to see Hayk Konjoryan, the leader of the CP faction in the previous parliament, the former godson of Edmon Marukyan, a camp changer, in that position.
These are the people who hate Alen Simonyan and want to do everything to get rid of him, but yesterday Alen Simonyan's supporters assured us that he will occupy the post of NA Speaker in this term, even though he was only 14th in the KP electoral list, and Konjoryan was 11th. Alen Simonyan personally gave such assurances to his supporters, saying that he earned the right to serve a second term. The argument of those pushing Alen Simonyan's version is that from the very first minutes of the difficult campaign, he was in the trenches of the KP, took the most dangerous blows, unlike the other candidates, who gave more importance to their ranking and responded to the accusations directed at the KP according to expediency. First of all, we are talking about Hayk Konjoryan, as well as Lilit Makunts, whom Nikol Pashinyan saw as NA Speaker before the elections, but the team resists it, noting that a heavy parliament has been formed, and a delicate and fragile being like Makunts cannot stand it. Meanwhile, Alen Simonyan has attacked the opposition no less than Pashinyan, and for this team it is considered to be of primary importance. One of the contenders for the position of Speaker of the Parliament is also NA Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan. He didn't "listen" to the opposition and spread hate speech, so he is absolutely worthy of this position. However, even his teammates consider his unbalanced and stubborn temperament problematic.
They say that Rubinyan does not find a language even within the team, let alone being able to manage the opposition. In addition, according to his party members, he is one of the most irresponsible people in the team, and for the manager of such a large institution, conscientiousness is an important characteristic. And most importantly, in the newly formed faction, Alen Simonyan has new supporters who have decided to insist on his candidacy during the discussion of the issue. First, they will elect the NA president during the intra-party discussion of the CP, and then also in the parliament. In recent months, Alen Simonyan has especially managed to win the hearts of KP ladies, he regularly invites them to restaurants, takes them on business trips, thanks to which he enjoys their sympathy.
In general, this mass has unique standards when choosing officials. However, our sources in the CP assured that the issue has not been discussed in the party yet, Nikol Pashinyan's opinion is not yet known, and the decision-maker in the CP is one person, and that person is Pashinyan. If they feel that he is against Alen Simonyan's candidacy, the situation will change within minutes. In general, judging by various indicators, the new NA CP faction will be worse than the previous parliament from the point of view of "backpacking".
