"Tigran should stop eating McDonald's." "Slovan" manager's statement about Barseghyan

Armenian national team midfielder Tigran Barseghyan continues to be one of the important football players of "Slovan" Bratislava, but after the departure of the captain Vladimir Weiss, his status in the club may change. A new phase is beginning in the team, and the management has made it clear that there will be no more concessions.

Commenting on Barseghyan's question, "Slovan" general manager Ivan Kmotrik Jr. stated that after the arrival of the new head coach, all football players will start with a clean slate and must once again prove their right to have a place in the main team.

"As for the sides, we still hope for Tigran. But with the arrival of a new coach and new energy, we all start from scratch. Everyone will have to fight for their place. Let me put it this way: Tigran should stop eating McDonald's and start training with all his might to impress the new coach," Kmotrik was quoted as saying by the Na Tehelnom poli podcast.

According to Kmotrik, the statement about McDonald's was partly made as a joke, but the topic is well known within the club. Earlier, Weiss senior admitted that Barseghyan really had a habit of visiting McDonald's before games, but the coach turned a blind eye to it, because the Armenian football player often provided results for the team.

"There will be no room for any concessions or special treatment in the new regime. Everyone knows that this was a topic of discussion. The relationship between Tigran and coach Weiss was very close, even special," said Kmotrik.

At the same time, the head of "Slovan" emphasized that he highly appreciates Barseghyan's football qualities, but expects more stability from him. According to him, the Armenian midfielder can be a fantastic football player when he works hard and is focused on the game.

In the 2025/26 season, the Armenian midfielder played 37 matches, scored 11 goals and made 6 assists.

Barseghyan's contract with the club is valid until 2027, but it is likely that he will leave the team already this summer, and "Slovan" will try to get some money from his transfer.
