The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US elections, offering to work together on a "strong transatlantic agenda". He wrote about this on X (formerly Twitter).
"My heartfelt congratulations to Donald Trump. The EU and the US are more than just allies. We are bound by the true partnership of our peoples, which unites 800 million citizens. So let's work together on a strong transatlantic agenda that will continue to benefit them," he said.
