The planned visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China shows the importance of maintaining the strategic alliance between Beijing and Moscow, according to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
The newspaper notes that the Russian leader's visit to China, scheduled for May 19-20, will take place just a few days after US President Donald Trump's visit to China.
The newspaper emphasizes that the successive negotiations of Chinese President Xi Jinping, first with the American and then with the Russian leader, should demonstrate China's ability to maintain relations with two world power centers at the same time.
El Mundo notes that despite Beijing's desire to stabilize relations with Washington, cooperation with Moscow remains a key element of China's foreign policy.
