Taipei is grateful to US President Donald Trump for the continued supply of modern weapons and equipment to Taiwan, the island's chief executive office said in a statement.
US President Donald Trump previously told Fox that the United States would not want to fight with China for Taiwan's independence. Trump also announced that the sale of US arms worth 12 billion dollars to Taiwan has been suspended for the time being. The American leader also noted that his negotiations in China did not affect the US policy towards Taiwan.
"Taiwan is grateful to President Trump for his unwavering support for security in the Taiwan Strait over the years, including the continued supply of advanced weapons and equipment to Taiwan," said a statement posted on the website of Taiwan's Prime Minister's Office.
