"Zhoghovurd" daily writes: "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper studied the declarations of the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan in recent years, in order to understand what property he has. Edward Asryan was born on May 22, 1977, in the village of Azokh in Artsakh. He started serving in the armed forces in 1994 and held various leadership positions until 2021, gradually advancing in the system.
In the years 2015-2017, he was the deputy head of the Military University named after Vazgen Sargsyan, and then the head of the faculty. In 2017-2019, he held the position of deputy head of the operational department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and on November 29, 2019, he was appointed the head of the operational department of the main operational department.
On October 30, 2020, he was awarded the military rank of Major General. On May 21, 2021, he was appointed the head of the operational main department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, deputy chief of the general staff. On July 14, 2022, by the decree of the RA President, he was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and on July 3, 2023, he received the military rank of lieutenant general. As for property and financial data, the study of "Zhoghovurd" shows that a certain increase was recorded in Asryan's declarations over the years. In 2021, when he terminated his previous position, his bank account balance was 1,016,975 AMD, cash was 710,528 AMD, and his annual income was 3,606,591 AMD. In 2022, he purchased an apartment in the Nor Nork administrative district of Yerevan, worth 28,500,000 AMD. At the end of the same year, his bank account balance was 1,300,000 drams, his cash was 3,000,000 drams, and his annual income was 11,589,764 drams. At the same time, a loan obligation of 22,938,888 drams was formed. In 2023, Asryan's bank accounts already had 3,000,000 drams, cash amounted to 3,500,000 drams, and the annual income received from the RA Ministry of Defense was 14,450,760 drams. At the end of the same year, the loan obligation amounted to 20,470,000 drams related to the purchase of an apartment. According to the 2024 declaration, he continues to own the same apartment in the Nor Nork administrative district of Yerevan, which was registered on July 25, 2022. No vehicle declared. The balance of bank accounts increased to 4,585,220 AMD, cash - 4,500,000 AMD, and annual income - 24,335,240 AMD. At the same time, the balance of the loan decreased and amounted to 19,898,659 drams. Thus, the studied data show that Edward Asryan's incomes have increased over the years, the funds have also increased, while the loan liability has gradually decreased."
