Starmer discussed the deepening of defense cooperation with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman the deepening of the defense partnership between London and Riyadh, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

"Today, the Prime Minister met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, in Jeddah. The Prime Minister started the meeting by welcoming the ceasefire and emphasizing the need to concentrate efforts to preserve it and turn it into a lasting peace.

He emphasized the importance of continuing the work to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and discussed the UK's efforts to organize meetings with partners to agree and plan the practical steps needed to increase the shipping industry's confidence in transit through the Strait," the statement said.

Starmer thanked the Crown Prince for "Saudi Arabia's efforts to protect British citizens in the country". "The Prime Minister is committed to continuing to support Saudi Arabia as a loyal ally, including through the recent deployment of the Sky Saber air defense system," the statement emphasized.

Starmer also met with British military personnel stationed in the Middle Eastern country on Wednesday to operationalize the system.
