Pentagon chief Pete Hegsett announced in a briefing on April 8 that Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, had been seriously injured. According to Hegsett, Khamenei was allegedly "wounded and disfigured" and Iranian industry was virtually destroyed. The US Secretary of Defense stated that the US armed forces are fully operational despite the cease-fire. Meanwhile, on April 4, it was noted that the information about Khamenei's supposed trip to Russia for treatment is false. It was determined that the injuries do not hinder his work.
