The Hay Dat central office presents the position of the Hay Dat America Committee ahead of the US presidential elections, in the format of a message addressed to the American Armenian community by the executive director of the committee, Aram Hambaryan. None of the US presidential candidates have earned the support of the Armenian American Committee.
Both sides are responsible for arming Azerbaijan, helping Azerbaijan commit genocide, and abandoning Artsakh. No party has abandoned or rescinded this reckless, irresponsible and genocidal policy.
We continue to work with both sides and welcome their words of support regarding Armenian-American policy priorities. Recognizing that campaign statements help set a rough benchmark for framing our issues in Washington, however, we consider our own experience of clearly not presenting any kind of contractual commitment to actual policy after taking office. However, we must note that our country these statements made by aspirants are essentially the result of our work, the standing and respect we have earned as a result of our work, especially in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and other "swing" states. Politicians seek to earn our votes, which is how our democracy is supposed to work.
While we're excited about the competition for our support, the bottom line remains that words aren't enough. None of the major party candidates had the concrete results that are able to secure our support before the elections. We're long past the day when we believed the all-too-often empty campaign promises of what candidates will do after they're elected. Today, there are actions that can be taken. Republicans: For example, President Trump could publicly urge Speaker Johnson to pass Resolution 7288, invoking the Section 907 cap on US aid to Azerbaijan.
JD Vance, as a sitting US senator, may sponsor Resolution 540, which would investigate Azerbaijan's use of US aid to commit anti-Armenian war crimes. Vice President Harris can announce the administration's official implementation of Resolution 907, the imposition of Magnitsky sanctions against Azerbaijan, and the withdrawal from COP29 until all Armenian hostages are released. That being said, we are deeply proud and excited about this year's election cycle. with the active participation of our community and are excited to see candidates compete for our votes as they strive to earn our trust.
It is a tribute to our fellow Americans of Armenian descent who have emerged as a key electoral force that, using our collective resources, can act with strategic importance, drawing attention to the survival of Artsakh and the security of Armenia in the American political arena. is how Armenian-American voters perceive your preferred candidate, do everything you can to push your candidate to hold Baku accountable, curb new Azerbaijani aggression, ensure the release of Armenian hostages, and pave the way for the return of Armenians to Artsakh. Acting without fear or favor, the Armenian Committee of America will not lower our community's standards for accepting or endorsing any candidate, but rather will give candidates greater energy and commitment to advance our just issues.
Keep up the pressure. It works.
