"Fact" daily writes:
In the domestic political field of Armenia, the trend is becoming more visible day by day, that the consolidation formed around the political force led by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, the "Strong Armenia" alliance, is not only expanding, but also taking on a systemic nature, including forces representing different ideological and political platforms. A few days ago, the "Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan" alliance was officially formed.
The corresponding memorandum was signed by Narek Karapetyan, the chairman of the "New Era" party Harutyun Harutyunyan and the honorary chairman of the "United Armenians" party, authorized representative Nairi Sargsyan. This step is considered as an important stage in the process of consolidation in the opposition field, which can have a significant impact on the results of the upcoming elections.
Consolidation around the alliance continued in recent days as well. At least four political forces: "Stability", "HJAM", "Heritage" and "Freedom" parties have announced that they will not participate in the elections and express their support for the "Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan" alliance.
Their statements emphasize the need for unity of the opposition and the imperative to avoid polluting votes. Let's remind that the leader of "Heritage" Raffi Hovhannisyan was the RA Foreign Minister, and the leader of "Freedom" Hrant Bagratyan was the RA Prime Minister. Moreover, the same Raffi Hovhannisyan was once the leader of the opposition.
Against this background, it becomes obvious that the process forming around the "Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan" alliance goes beyond the usual pre-election cooperation and turns into a broad political consolidation experience. As a summary, the decisions of various forces not to participate in the elections and to unite around one center testify to the fact that a new pole is forming in the political field, which claims to become the main axis of the opposition.
According to political observers, this process can have a decisive role in the formation of election results, especially in the conditions when the unification of opposition votes is considered as the main precondition for achieving a change of power. The consolidation around the "Strong Armenia" alliance is, according to those values, the primary format of the current situation, which can provide the necessary political mass and organization to achieve that goal.
