France does not want to be a vassal of other countries. Macro

France seeks to avoid becoming a vassal of other countries, including the United States, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

On Thursday, the President of France, accompanied by his wife Brigitte, arrived in South Korea on a two-day visit.

"Our goal is not to be vassals of the two dominant powers... We don't want to be dependent on, say, China's hegemony or too subject to the unpredictability of the United States," Macron said during a meeting with students at Seoul's Yonsei University.

US President Donald Trump has previously expressed doubts about NATO's ability to provide meaningful assistance to the United States, accusing the alliance of "mistreatment" and ineffectiveness in the face of a global threat.
