Ukraine will receive 20 million Canadian dollars ($14.4 million) in financial aid from Canada for energy restoration, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced on her Telegram channel.
"We appreciate Canada's consistent support and the recently announced contribution of 20 million Canadian dollars to the Energy Assistance Fund for Ukraine," the prime minister wrote. Ukraine has problems with electricity supply since the end of 2025 due to severe cold and extensive damage to energy infrastructure.
A state of emergency has been declared in the country's energy sector. Many regions continue to experience daily, multi-hour power outages.
