Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked the people and government of Iraq for their support to the Islamic Republic in the conflict with the US and Israel. "The Muslim people of Iraq bravely supported Iran in this unjust war.
This resistance is not due to geographical limitations, but to shared history, identity and religious values. I shake hands with the Iraqi people, officials and fighters," he wrote in X.
On February 28, the US and Israel went to war against Iran. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were attacked. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a large-scale retaliatory attack against Israel. US military facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia were also hit.
