"From Afghanistan to Iran, including Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Gaza and Venezuela, the line between what is permissible and what is forbidden is being blurred by the omission and inaction of the UN Security Council," the Brazilian president said. He emphasized that the permanent members of the UN Security Council act without taking into account the charter of the organization.
These states use their veto power as a shield or a weapon. "They are playing with the destinies of millions of people, leaving traces of death and destruction behind them," emphasized Lula da Silva.
Brazil's president believes it's time to restore the ability of the "reformed UN" to function. According to Lula da Silva, the organization must stop being indifferent to events around the world.
