Heavy rains in Dagestan on Saturday caused widespread flooding and power and water outages. More than 320,000 people were left without electricity, and now emergency restoration works are being carried out, reports the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
Makhachkala was hit particularly hard. a state of emergency has been declared in the city, rescue services are evacuating people from flooded private houses. Emergency and utility services, medical facilities were put on high alert.
