The Ministry of Defense presented for public discussion the project "On announcing and demobilizing military service for the summer of 2026".
According to the requirements of Article 19, Part 4 of the Law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen", the conscription for compulsory military service of rank and file is announced by the decision of the government no less than twice during the year.
The government's decision also defines the activities related to the organization of the military draft, the bodies of the organization of the military draft, the term of the military draft and the regulations related to the demobilization of servicemen who have completed compulsory military service within the period stipulated by the same law, and according to parts 1 of Article 25 of the law, for the purpose of organizing the announced draft of the mandatory military service of ordinary personnel, the republican and, depending on the marzes (Yerevan city), regional (Yerevan city) draft commissions are established by the government's decision.
According to the requirements of Article 6, Part 1 of the Law "On Alternative Service", alternative service conscription and release to the reserve is carried out together with compulsory military service conscription and release to the reserve.
According to the project, it is planned to set the period of recruitment of the Armed Forces from June 22 to August 15, 2026, and to carry out the demobilization of servicemen who have completed mandatory military service from June 24 to August 15, 2026 inclusive.
The project defines the process of organizing and conducting the 2026 summer conscription for the compulsory military service of rank-and-file, the bodies created within it, and the scope of actions to ensure conscription.
