Iran has resumed gas supplies to Iraq at a rate of 5 million cubic meters per day after it was interrupted by strikes on Iran's gas infrastructure, Iraqi Electricity Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa said on Saturday.
"Today, supplies of Iranian gas to Iraq resumed with a volume of five million cubic meters. The volumes are gradually being restored in order to strengthen the national energy grid and increase the operating capacity of power plants," he said.
Ahmed Musa noted that Iraq's power plants were affected by the temporary interruption of Iranian gas supplies, prompting the ministry to take alternative measures, powering some power plants using domestic gas reserves, as well as converting some of them to diesel.
