The new supreme leader of Iran left his father's decisions in force

The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, has kept all the orders given by his father, the late Athullah Ali Khamenei, regarding the appointment of certain officials.

"After inquiries of some leaders and officials directly appointed by the martyr, I announce that there is no need to revise the decrees at present. The work must be continued according to the policies adopted during his lifetime," Mojtaba Khamenei's press service said in a statement.

According to Iran's constitution, the appointments refer to Islamic legal experts serving on the Guardian Council. The Supreme Leader also appoints the head of the country's judiciary, the head of Iran's state broadcaster, the chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a number of other high-ranking military officials. The Supreme Leader also confirms the results of Iran's presidential elections.
