Bloomberg: Washington and Caracas are discussing the extradition of a Maduro ally

The US and Venezuelan authorities are discussing the possible extradition of Alex Saab, the former minister of industry under Nicolas Maduro, Bloomberg reports, citing its sources. According to their sources, Miami prosecutors are preparing charges against Saab, allegedly for money laundering.

As the agency notes, "whether he is brought to the United States or not, American investigators need Saab's testimony to substantiate their case against Maduro."

The agency writes that if Caracas hands over Saab to the US, it would be the "most important example of legal cooperation" between the two countries in recent times and could open a "new front" in investigations against associates of the kidnapped president.
