The Georgian port of Kulev will be removed from the EU sanctions list

The EU has promised Georgia to exclude the port of Kulev from the 20th package of sanctions. It was reported earlier that through this port, Georgia helps Russia circumvent oil sanctions.

The European Union excluded the oil terminal of the Georgian port of Kulev from the draft of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. According to the First channel of Georgia, the special representative for EU sanctions issues, David O'Sullivan, informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia about this.

"Inclusion of the port of Kulev in the 20th package was initially discussed due to the role of the sea transportation of Russian oil and the role of a port stop for shadow fleet tankers. This initial position was revised after positive commitments were made by your authorities and the port operator. I welcome your assurances that Georgia will not allow ships subject to EU sanctions to stop at your ports or be served by them," he said.
