An explosion occurred near the US Embassy in the capital of Norway

An explosion occurred in the middle of the night near the building of the US Embassy in Oslo, which caused "minor damage" and property damage.

The Oslo police said that on March 8, around 1 am, they received several calls about the explosions. Upon arrival, the patrols confirmed that the explosion took place at the entrance of the US Embassy.

"There are minor damages as a result of the explosion. At this time, we will not comment on the damage, explosion, etc.," said the head of the response team, explaining that the investigation is just beginning.

The officers of the law enforcement agencies started searching for the possible perpetrators of the explosion, including using a drone and a helicopter.

The vicinity of the embassy was checked for the presence of other dangerous objects, but nothing was found.

Minister of Justice and Public Security Astri Aas-Hansen stated that it is "an unacceptable incident and is taken extremely seriously".
