Norway's hegemony. The Winter Olympics are over

The 25th Winter Olympics will go down in history as a period of Norwegian sporting dominance. The team of this Scandinavian country not only won the team competition, but also surpassed the historical records set by it.

A total of 116 sets of medals were contested at these games. The Norwegian national team won 41 medals in this competition, of which 18 were gold, 12 were silver and 11 were bronze. With this indicator, the Norwegians renewed two records at once, both in terms of gold awards (surpassing their own 16 golds in 2022) and the total number of medals won (they now have 41 medals compared to 39 medals in 2018).

The role of 29-year-old skier Johannes Klebo is invaluable in the creation of the Norwegian miracle. Taking part in six competitions, he recorded a hundred percent result, taking home 6 gold medals. Thanks to this fantastic achievement, Klebaugh became an 11-time Olympic champion, establishing himself as second in the list of all-time winningest athletes in the history of the Olympic Games. Now he is second only to the legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps, who has 23 gold medals.

The US Olympic team took second place in the overall team count, winning 33 medals (12 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze). The top three was completed by the Netherlands team, whose athletes won 10 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals.
