The US administration has threatened European countries with severe retaliatory measures in response to possible restrictions on the access of US companies to the EU arms market, according to the European publication Politico.
"The United States strongly opposes any changes that would limit the ability of US manufacturers to support or otherwise participate in defense procurement by the EU government," the US Department of Defense told the publication.
They called Europe's protectionist policy discriminatory because it "forcefully excludes American companies from the market, while European defense companies continue to benefit enormously from access to the US market."
According to Politico, the retaliatory measures will actually prevent European companies from entering the US arms market.
