British police spent several days planning the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of King Charles III, without informing the royal family, the Telegraph newspaper reported, citing sources.
"The arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor took the world by surprise. But behind closed doors, senior officers of the Thames Valley Police (a region west of London) had been methodically planning the operation for several days.
"Neither the Buckingham Palace nor the King were informed in advance about the pending arrest," the message states.
According to the publication, when planning such an operation, the police officer responsible for investigating the case must apply for a search warrant.
