The Financial Times (FT) reported that the United States has moved 39 tankers and 29 heavy military transport aircraft, including Boeing C-17 Globemaster IIIs, to a potential theater of war in the Middle East over three days.
The newspaper also reported that the US Air Force has deployed an early warning and control aircraft to the Middle East. According to Becky Wasser, a military strategy expert at the Washington-based Center for a New American Security, the US has deployed forces in the region that are sufficient to conduct a prolonged military campaign.
He insisted that this buildup of troops "is not an empty threat."
