Palestine opposes Israel's participation in the Peace Council. Salah Abdel Shafi, the Palestinian ambassador to Austria and a permanent observer in international organizations in Vienna, told "Izvestia".
"In our opinion, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal and should be tried for his crimes, instead of being a member of the Peace Council," the diplomat told the publication. Moreover, the ambassador emphasized that the humanitarian needs of the Gaza Strip are acute.
"After the war in the Gaza Strip, there is practically nothing left there. Israel has destroyed the infrastructure, the health system, the education sector and the schools. Today, the Gaza Strip needs absolutely everything," the diplomat said.
