"The 2nd criminal case has been initiated against the brother of Hayk Konjoryan, the leader of the CP faction of the National Assembly. He stood before the court again. Informed sources of "Zhoghovurd" daily report that Avet Konjoryan, the brother of Hayk Konjoryan, the head of the NA CP faction, was charged for driving a car while deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 1 year. This is in the conditions when the brother is one of the prominent figures of the ruling CP, and impunity was guaranteed.
And so, the "Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper found out from official sources that Avet Arseni Konjoryan, having been deprived of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of 1 year from 07.07.2025 to 07.07.2026 in the case of an administrative offense dated 07.07.2025, and having been properly notified about it, on October 15, 2025 at Around 2:15 p.m., on Republic Avenue in the city of Abovyan, Kotayk Marz, near "Original Food", he drove a car with registration number "Mercedes" 11 IM 110, during which he was stopped by the officers of the police patrol service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs serving in the area.
In the court, studying the materials of the criminal case, in particular, the RA Police Information Center's Form 8 reference, according to which a proceeding to impose a fine by consent was initiated against Avet Arseni Konjoryan on the basis of not having been previously convicted. As a result, the court decided to find Avet Arseni Konjoryan guilty of the act provided for in Article 344, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code and imposed a fine of five times the minimum salary, AMD 375,000.
With the application of Article 59, Part 8 of the RA Criminal Code, to allow the payment of the fine of 375,000 AMD within 1 (one) year. The restraining measure chosen against Avet Arseni Konjoryan, the ban on absenteeism, should be left unchanged until the verdict enters into legal force, and after that, it should be abolished. ArmLur.am spoke with Avet Konjoryan's lawyer, Melanya Sargsyan, to understand why it was stated in the court that he had not been convicted before.
We informed the latter that Avet Konjoryan was previously convicted of fraud, and there is an indictment against him, screenshots of which were published by "Zhoghovurd" daily. The lawyer mentioned that there are time limits, after which a person is no longer considered convicted, and this does not apply only to Avet Konjordjian.
He also mentioned that in the above-mentioned case also, if he pays the fine at the same time, he will again be considered a person without a conviction. Judging by the situation, it was not a lesson for the brother of CP member Hayk Konjoryan to be arrested and convicted in a fraud case before, and years later he broke the law again and appeared before the court again. Well, now already under the princely patronage of his brother."
