It is said in the political backstage that Aram Sargsyan, the chairman of the "Republic" party, initially intended to participate in the national elections with Pashinyan on the same list, but his proposal was rejected, and the main reason is that Pashinyan replied that the person who kissed the right hand of His Holiness cannot find a place in the list headed by him.
Aram Zavenich tried to justify himself, gave clarifications in this regard and later even expressed a public position regarding Pashinyan's plan to "improve" the Church, but he was not forgiven. Of course, there is also another goal: to bring a second force into the National Assembly, with which, if necessary, they will form a coalition and take power. However, Aram Sargsyan believes that the government is "cheating" them, because they have the same electorate, they represent almost a single force in the Yerevan Council of Elders, and it is unlikely that they will overcome the temporary threshold. People who vote for the government will vote for CP, why should they vote for "Republic"?
Now they have decided that Aram Sargsyan should start criticizing the authorities on some issues in order to get the votes of those who are disappointed with the authorities and those who reject the previous ones."
