The Israeli government has confirmed the start of the process of land registration in the West Bank, state broadcaster Kan reported. This is the first such decision since 1967, when the Six-Day War brought the West Bank, formerly under Jordanian control, under Israeli control. According to Kahn, this is "another step towards the annexation" of the region, which Israel officially calls Judea and Samaria.
According to international law, this territory is considered occupied. According to Kahn, this decision aims to resolve land ownership disputes in the West Bank.
Based on this decision, the Land Registry Authority of the Ministry of Justice of Israel will receive additional funding, powers and personnel to organize the process of land registration in the State Registry.
