US President Donald Trump may end his administration's involvement in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in the coming weeks as the 2026 midterm elections approach. This is stated in the article of The Atlantic magazine.
"Ukrainians felt that time was short. In the coming weeks, when the pre-election campaign will absorb more and more of Trump's attention, he may decide that the negotiations are politically detrimental to him.
In that case, he can leave the process, placing the responsibility for the failure of diplomacy on the disagreement of one or both parties," the newspaper writes. Mid-term elections in the USA will take place on November 3. They will include the re-election of a third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives.
During these elections, the "Democratic Party" hopes to regain control of the Congress.
