Poland has announced a major defense reform, the Army 500,000 project, which envisages the creation of a 500,000-strong armed force, mainly through a new highly trained reserve force capable of quick mobilization in case of crises.
At the press conference held in the headquarters of the Polish Army, Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosyniak-Kamish emphasized that this project will unite the formations of the territorial defense forces of the professional army and the new highly trained reserve force. Both men and women can be included in that reserve force.
"If necessary, we will be able to recruit half a million trained and combat-ready people," said Kosiniak-Kamish.
