Bloomberg: Starmer could resign within the next week

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer may be forced to resign within a week. This was reported by the Bloomberg agency, referring to the sources of the ruling "Labor Party". The scandal surrounding the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the British ambassador to the United States became the reason for such conversations. Mandelson is known for having friendly relations with the American financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of child abuse.

This scandal has already led to the resignation of the prime minister's chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, who stepped down on February 8. According to Bloomberg, a number of MPs from the ruling Labor Party were surprised by the fact that Starmer continues to hold his post.

According to the agency, some employees of the Downing Street 10 staff in private conversations call on the members of the government to convince the prime minister to resign, or they themselves leave the cabinet in order to provoke his removal.
