Prime Minister of Georgia: Relations with the EU remain poor

Relations between Georgia and the European Union have not changed and, as in previous years, continue to remain at a low level. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the country, Irakli Kobakhidze, in an interview with the Georgian "Imedi" TV station.

"We hope that the European Union and its bureaucracy will be able to restore sovereignty. In that case, the situation will change, but until now, the situation remains difficult for the European bureaucracy, and accordingly, the level of our relations is the same as in previous years, which is very unfortunate," Kobakhidze noted.

According to the Prime Minister, Georgia has been facing external pressure for several years. In May 2024, the Parliament of Georgia adopted the Law "On Transparency of Foreign Influence", after which the country's relations with the European Union and the United States began to deteriorate.
