For the second time this week, the European Commission (EC) has postponed the presentation of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia to the ambassadors of the EU countries. As Euractiv writes with the information of diplomats, the documents were supposed to be submitted on Wednesday.
According to diplomats, the delay may be related to the EC's attempts to persuade the US to join the sanctions that apply to maritime transportation. Diplomats expect that Brussels will present the measures on Friday, and the approval of the capitals of the EU countries is scheduled for February 24, the portal writes.
According to him, the sanctions may include a complete ban on "fleet" services, as well as strict restrictions on the export of luxury goods and the import of Russian fertilizers.
On February 2, Bloomberg reported that the EU intends to ban member states from purchasing platinum, metal, iridium and rhodium from Russia, which will be reflected in the 20th set of sanctions.
