Trump extended the trade agreement with African countries

US President Donald Trump has extended the operation of the agreement, which provides 32 African countries with duty-free access to the United States market. This was reported by the office of the representative of the US trade negotiations.

Trump signed the relevant law extending the agreement from September 30, 2025 to December 31, 2026. Those agreements were reached 25 years ago.

The agreement allows the United States to buy billions of dollars a year duty-free in about 1,800 types of goods, including cars, clothing, and agricultural products from several African countries.

The agreement expired last fall, resulting in significant job losses in Africa and exporters being forced to pay high tariffs. The retroactive law enabled the head of state to extend the validity of the agreement despite the fact that it had already expired.
