Australia has imposed sanctions on 20 Iranian citizens, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite unit of Iran's armed forces).
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, Penny Wong. "The Australian government imposes additional sanctions on 20 Iranian citizens and 3 organizations.
The new list includes high-ranking representatives of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who are involved in oppressing the Iranian people and creating threats to people's lives inside and outside Iran," Wong said, noting that earlier the Australian authorities had recognized IRGC as a state-sponsored terrorist organization (November 27, 2025).
The minister also said that, in general, Australia has imposed sanctions on more than 300 Iranian citizens and organizations.
