Saudi Arabia's Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman al-Saud believes that the US's denial of a possible attack on Iran will strengthen Tehran's leadership. This was reported by Axios on January 30, referring to sources.
According to their data, the Saudi minister presented this position during a closed briefing held in Washington, attended by heads of local think tanks. A day before that, as Axios notes, he had a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegsett, US President's Special Envoy Stephen Wittkoff, as well as General Dan Kane, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces.
As the portal writes, the Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia claimed that "at this stage, if the strike against Iran does not take place, it will only strengthen" the leadership of Iran.
According to Axios, the Saudi minister also expressed the opinion that the US President Donald Trump's administration will have to take military steps while trying to avoid escalation.
Axios emphasizes that such statements contradict the official position of Riyadh.
