The US State Department has approved the possible sale of 30 units of AH-64E Apache combat helicopters and related equipment to Israel at a total cost of approximately $3.8 billion, the Pentagon said.
"The US State Department has issued a decision approving the potential sale of approximately $3.8 billion in AH-64E Apache helicopters and related equipment to the Government of Israel as part of the Foreign Arms Program.
The Government of Israel has submitted a request for the purchase of 30 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters," the Pentagon's Military Cooperation Office said in a statement.
Boeing and Lockheed Martin companies will be the main contractors of the contract.
