US President Donald Trump claims that he personally asked Vladimir Putin not to attack Kiev.
"I personally asked President Putin not to strike Kiev and other cities for a week during this unusually cold weather. <...> I personally asked President Putin to stop firing on Kiev and other cities for a week. And he agreed to do it. And I must tell you that it is very pleasant," he said during the meeting with his administration.
According to him, significant progress has been made in the negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement.
"We believe that it (the end of the conflict - ed.) is already near," added the head of the White House.
